Japanese Encephalitis Vaccine
Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito-borne disease caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus. The disease occurs mainly in the rural and agricultural areas of Asia and the Western Pacific Region.
Way for Spreading
Japanese encephalitis virus is principallytransmitted by the bites of infected mosquitoescalled Culex tritaeniorhynchus.
Incubation Period
4-14 days
Clinical Features
Most infections occur without apparent symptoms or withmild symptoms such as fever and headache. More severeinfection is characterised by rapid onset of headache, highfever. neck stiffness, impaired mental state, coma, tremorsconvulsions(especially in children) and paralysis.
