When it comes to leading a healthy and happy life, one of the ways to achieve that goal is by ensuring your body is capable of fighting off any infections and diseases that get spread through the air or by other means.
An effective way to combat any potential future health problems is by taking vaccinations against specific medical conditions and diseases.
At Hong Kong Magicure Clinic, our vaccination clinics in Central offer clients access to a range of vaccines.
What Is a Vaccine? A vaccine prepares your body to create the correct immune response against certain infectious diseases. Vaccines typically contain agents that resemble disease-carrying microorganisms, and they stimulate the body’s immune system to recognise them as threats. Vaccines significantly diminish the chances of contracting specific diseases, and some even boast complete immunity. Without vaccines, more people worldwide would spread those diseases, and many would, unfortunately, succumb to their effects. |
Which Vaccines Do Magicure Offer?
1. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among women in Hong Kong and is most commonly caused by HPV16 and 18. The HPV vaccine (9 in 1) covers 9 virus types, including HPV6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58. Cancer and its lesions caused by these 9 types of viruses can also be prevented, including cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts (cauliflower).
The disease that the HPV virus can cause is not limited to women, both men and women who have sexual experience can be infected. Furthermore, women who are infected with HPV can potentially infect their newborn babies during childbirth.
2. FluMist Quadrivalent
FluMist Quadrivalent is a vaccine indicated for active immunization of persons 2-49 years of age for the prevention of influenza disease caused by influenza A subtype viruses and type B viruses contained in the vaccine. It is a nasal spray flu vaccine that starts working in the nose.
3. Prevnar 20
Prevnar 20 is a vaccine approved for:
active immunization for the prevention of pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae strains 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 8, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 18C, 19A, 19F, 22F, 23F, and 33F in individuals 18 years of age and older.

4. Pneumococcal Vaccine (PCV15)
Vaccination is recognized as a key preventive measure against invasivepneumococcal disease, and the 15-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine(PCV15) is currently the most effective vaccine available for protecting infantsand young children against pneumococcal pneumonia.
Suitable for:Infants and individuals aged 6 weeks or above can receive the vaccine toprevent pneumonia and invasive diseases such as meningitis and sepsiscaused by 15 serotypes of pneumococcus.1,3,4,5,6A,6B,7F,9V,14,18C,19A,19F,22F,23F,33F
5. Pneumococcal Vaccine (PCV13)
Pneumonia is one of the top three killers in Hong Kong. In fact, many flu patients died because of pneumonia. For chronically ill patients, pneumonia is a “death blow”. Pneumococcus often hides in the nasal cavity, and when the body’s immunity is weakened (such as a cold), it will take the opportunity to invade. Pneumococcal disease can cause serious invasive diseases including meningitis, bacteremic pneumonia, hemolytic uremic disease, and non-invasive diseases such as acute otitis media and sinusitis. People who are chronically ill or immunocompromised are three times more likely to die from pneumococcal infection than healthy individuals.
6. Shingles Vaccine
Shingles, commonly known as herpes zoster, is a painful skin rash produced by the chickenpox virus (varicella-zoster virus) reactivating in persons who have had chickenpox previously.
7. Boostrix Vaccine
It is also known as ‘whooping cough’. The incubation period ranges from 4 – 21 days, usually 7 – 10 days. The infected person may initially have non-specific symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, low-grade fever and mild cough. The cough gradually becomes more severe and spells of violent coughing can interfere with eating, drinking and breathing. The bacteria can cause lung infection, and even lead to seizures and coma in severe cases.
What to Expect At Hongkong Magicure Clinic, we never offer any vaccines without first checking each client’s medical history and determining whether they might be allergic to any substance in the vaccines. All vaccines that we offer at Trinity Medical Centre get administered via a needle, so clients can expect some slight, temporary discomfort during the injection. However, the discomfort is minimal and only lasts a few seconds. The vaccination process only takes a few minutes, and you can typically continue with the rest of your day as usual. |
